Southpaw seeks to promote authors by focussing on punchy, realistic narratives perfectly suited to short/flash fiction. Inspiration is taken from successful but edgy short format authors from Weldon Kees, through John Fante, up to Thom Jones, who sit just outside the mainstream. What aligns these authors with the outlook of Southpaw is succinct, impactful writing, whilst not forsaking unique characterisation on the everyday life.
